Be grateful for ….

Gratitude rises, gentle as the dawn,

Unlocking life’s fullness, so pure and wide;

What once felt scarce now feels warmly drawn,

A wealth within where little did reside.

Gratitude softens denial, let’s unfold,

And chaos yields to quiet order’s flow;

Confusion clears a steady truth takes hold,

Perceptions weave in peace where tangled thoughts would go.

My humble meal becomes a joyous feast,

Four walls take warmth and turn into a home;

A stranger’s face reveals a friend released,

New light discovered where we thought alone.

With gratitude’s touch, our world finds its grace—

Caress the smallest moment each held in soft embrace.

To the quiet pulse of wonder,

Feeling the current of new ideas

Which stir beneath your surface,

Like the cosmic river of stars across each night.

Let your thoughts explore, fly,

Through that open doorway into the unknown,

Follow them, step through, heart quickening 

To the thrill of a fresh discovery,

The mystery is as yet untouched, unnamed, untamed.

Be alive to the unexpected,

That quiet astonishment

Hidden in each moment—

The way light bends through leaves,

Or a familiar voice finds a new song singing, 

Savor each drop from this well of wonder,

This feast of beauty and daring,

For once the mind awakens to its depths,

It becomes a lasting passion,

Forever a refuge to your wandering wondering soul.

Breaking Through

Should life break, even crack you,

the soul will whisper —

Saying you are ready to be remade,

To be gathered differently, with tender bands.

Each shattered shard feels,

like a fragment seeking a new place,

finding a new purpose only time can reveal,

a meaning shaped by quiet grace.

Trust your cracks, for there,

the light is absorbed into you—

its gentle beams healing,

illuminating the way to health.

In the brokenness, we meet ourselves again,

and in that meeting, we realize wholeness also happens.

With the courage to rebuild, to reimagine,

to let loves strength take on a new form.

Really we are never broken,

But breaking through—

becoming more than we ever were.

The Sixth Day

Creation never stopped on the sixth day—

it moves still, beneath the radiant glow of mornings,

in the dark pull of tides and the leaning of trees toward light.

It breathes through us, between our words or letters,

in the spaces we think are empty,

yet are full with the pulse of the unseen.

We call it love,

though it is older than the name we give it—

a force that knows no stopping,

rising in us like a river breaking its own banks,

flooding us with the ache of becoming.

It walks beside us,

in the ordinary moments we miss—

in the turn of a leaf, the warmth of skin,

the sudden silence when the heart remembers

it has always belonged

to something infinite,

something that has never once paused even, 

After the sixth day.

In time it’s the clock

Or the pencil’s written song

Or a moments recognition about where we belong

At times it’s the lock on the prisoners door

Or Jacob who left and returned home to more

From time we charge, towards time we run

The rising,the setting of the moon and sun

Yet in it we are, a beginning and an end

So where do we start?

When it’s time to begin

Is it here?

Is it there?

Is it up?

Is it down?

Or simply the quietude when sitting down.

Your way begins over there

On the other side of the sky

The bridge there is a rainbow of love

It connects us to all and everything

Believe not your eyes

It’s your heart which needs to step out step forward

Not blinded by light

But intoxicated with color

Singing with the birds

For those wings are yours too, to fly

Those songs are yours too, to recite

As poems of how we have come to be

So alive, so much more, so free.

When she looks at you

Listen up, for those

Deep eyes speak sweet

Words of silent selflessness

Each a butterfly

Alone,

Though the color, the movement takes

My gaze to intoxication

Not my thoughts

My emotional wings take flight feelings

Lift me peacefully on the intention of the moment

Eyes gaze, the look mesmerizing

While words with wings flutter

Across my imagination singing sweet hymns of praise and gratitude

Each of us born will crawl, struggle then fly

To my lips taste the sweet wine of life
