Sonnet: Light

Sonnet: Light

by Liam

Oh radiant light, how thou dost warm my soul

Thy shining grace doth pierce the window pane

And in my thoughts, thy brilliance doth unroll

Revealing truths that ever shall remain

Thou dost illuminate all that I see

And show me who I am, in truth and light

Thy radiance culminates in clarity

And brings to me a wondrous, peaceful sight

Oh humankind, awaken to this gift

A world of life and strife and endless choice

Drawn from the light not dark, we make our shift

Towards a path of right, with steadfast voice

Let us reflect the light that shines so bright

And be a beacon in this world of shadow night

For as the dawn doth greet the horizon’s line

Light cuspeth dark, and shoots the spark divine

Cheering the lark, and painting the garden’s walk

With tulips’ hues, all alive in thy glorious talk.

Sonnet: Skylark

Sonnet: Skylark

by Liam

As Skylark soars with wings embraced by blue,

This wind doth sweep past and through my soul,

And as we laugh and ask, “why?”, anew,

A thousand questions doth my mind console.

For in God’s glance, I find support and grace,

To face the truth that cannot be defined,

And caught in reflection of Heaven’s face,

My ruby lips shall find the proof entwined.

Deep golden nuggets in my soul doth lay,

Embedded in the bedrock of my being,

And as I wait for wisdom’s gentle sway,

The wind shall whisper secrets all-seeing.

So patiently I wait for truth to shine,

As Skylark sings with melodies divine.

Sonnet: Articulate

Sonnet: Articulation

by Liam

Let the soul speak in silence, to my face

Soar, upon the horizons dawning

Reaching out to the gold of morning

Asking “Why? Who? What?” into the silence of space

My face, aged with fine lines of life’s embrace

Hold echoes of these questions, reverberating on

Each smile, each laugh, bringing joy to life’s song

Obliterating conflict, conquering strife’s place

Like ripples on the sea, is the writers art

Weaves questions into lines of poetry

Reminding the soul to remember and to see

The beginning, the end, now and to start

Being free, to let go, to set apart

In silent articulation, soul and heart.

What is a Sonnet?

A sonnet is a type of poem that consists of fourteen lines typically written in iambic pentameter, which is a rhythmic pattern of ten syllables per line with a stress on every second syllable. The sonnet form has been used by poets for centuries to express a range of emotions, ideas, and themes.

The sonnet is often considered a particularly challenging form of poetry because of its strict structure and rhyme scheme. Traditionally, sonnets have a specific rhyme scheme that varies according to the type of sonnet being written. For example, the English or Shakespearean sonnet has a rhyme scheme of abab cdcd efef gg, while the Italian or Petrarchan sonnet has a rhyme scheme of abba abba cde cde (or some variation of that).

In terms of content, sonnets can explore a wide range of themes, from love and romance to political and social issues. Many sonnets use metaphor, imagery, and other literary devices to convey their meaning and evoke emotional responses in the reader.

Some of the most famous sonnet writers include William Shakespeare, John Donne, and Elizabeth Barrett Browning. Shakespeare, in particular, is known for his sonnet sequence, which includes 154 sonnets that explore themes of love, beauty, mortality, and other aspects of the human condition.

Overall, the sonnet is a complex and challenging form of poetry that has been used by poets for centuries to explore a range of themes and emotions. Despite its strict structure, the sonnet remains a popular form of poetry among writers and readers alike.

Sonnet: Rainbow

Sonnet: Rainbow

by Liam

Oh, let me be the radiant morning sun,

That scatters dewdrops in its golden rays,

Each liquid pearl dissolving, one by one,

Into the boundless, blue expanse of space.

Together, we shall paint a rainbow bright,

With hues of every shade and color fair,

Our love breaks the light and forms a sight,

A bridge that spans that chasm of despair.

A path of care, of grace, of inspiration,

Shall bind us, molecule by molecule,

From dawn till dusk, through each iteration,

Till we rise again, from rest and slumbers pool.

For as the mist clears from my bleary eyes,

Divine is found in-which each droplet hides

Enabling me to see love’s grandeur rise,

And hear the sparrow sing, soaring on high tides.

Now let us together rise and embrace this life anew,

From invisible, to the magnificent, through and through.

Sonnet: Let in the Light

Sonnet: Let in the Light

By Liam

Amidst the art of knowing, we perceive

Way beyond the limits of our comprehension

For love not pain, we strive to achieve

To grasp the essence of its intention

In understanding lies the glimmering light

A beacon shining in the darkest days

Revealing what we must change, to make it right

And guide us thoughtful, through difficult ways

We are beings of substance, truthfully seeking our way

Authentic in the trial of standing alone

Struggling to cherish each and every day

Joyfully appreciating the marvels shown

From morning to night, within life’s fleeting breath

We seek our place among the stars, before our cosmic death.

Sonnet: Love

Sonnet: Love

by Liam

Love’s affirmation, transforms forever,

Transcends by growth, true love we spent

You, the lover, and me, together

A mysterious desire, of insidious intent.

Our hearts, our skin, our perspiration, entwine

“Berührung”, is us touching deep,

This meaning is divine,

Enraptured by its depth, we leap.

Caught in love’s unifying embrace,

Amazed by love’s potent surge and power,

Transmuting us to harmonious grace,

A bond that grows with each passing hour.

It’s love, you and me, caught in synchronicity,

This our agreement shared for all eternity.

Sonnet: Resurgence of Love

Sonnet: Resurgence of Love

by Liam

Why not engage in love’s ardent embrace?

Despite its struggles, the anguish, the pain,

For naught is gained from flames that leave no trace,

But from their ashes, love’s Phoenix shall rise again.

From dust and grey, a living form takes flight,

Born once again, shines in radiant glance,

Blessed by the Gods’ own celestial light,

Free from the past, in this present dance.

In this ecstatic emulsion of emotion,

Unabated in its fervent flow,

No worldly force can tear apart our devotion,

As we surrender to its fiery glow.

For it’s love I’ve found, alive and free,

In this poetic transformation of you and me.

Sonnet: Being Me

Sonnet: Being Me

by Liam

In the depths of lost, I release my hold

Embark on a journey, boundlessly bold

I transform into the sky, painted bright blue

With tears and an axe, can I break through?

Through this reality, the prison was me.

To walk out the being I was born to be,

Shed I the cloak of dull, lifeless grey sad

Wear now a smile, create music, be glad

Through the cracks, came the light of a new me

Dying left the past, yet remaining free to see

In silence, I find peace, tranquility, space.

Embracing the full moon, with awe, me and grace.

I see the truth, I feel the call

In the magnificence, a simple part in it all.
