The Orchard

Poem: The Orchard

by Liam

White lilies of the field,

Agapanthus, chrysanthemum & pungent carnations from the garden

These kisses fill my basket

With promise, an urge to saturate the air

To breathe you in with summer

To perfume my senses

To plant an orchard of cherry blossom in your heart

Then deep in the autumn of life

The sweet fruit digested,

Our bodies nourished and strong

We spit out the pips of our togetherness,

Kernels pregnant with the promise of tomorrow

Enriching those fields from which we so freely plucked in youth

The orchards of soulfulness.

The valleys of spirit.

The blossom of enlightenment.
