Ode to Words

by Liam

When the weight feels heavy on your mind,

And you stumble, struggling on your path,

Let kind words, like a soft breeze,

Lift you up where the sunlight shines.

They rise from that unseen, eternal source,

Where thirsty souls drink deep and find wisdom,

And in those flowing waters, you’ll be made whole,

As thoughts, like divine threads, unfold their truth.

These are not just empty words,

But woven threads of meaning, touching the soul,

Bringing you back to life’s light,

Showing how all our hearts are connected.

When trapped in the cold stare of sorrow,

Let rich colors—indigo, red, green—

Breathe life back into your spirit,

And bring back the joy that once bloomed within.

And when your thoughts drift in a dark sea,

When your mind feels worn and lost,

A path of shining moonlight will appear,

Guided by quiet words that mend your broken dreams.

Don’t let despair take over your heart,

For wisdom speaks in every fiber,

Calling you gently back to the place

Where souls are nourished in the light.

Let the earth’s abundance guide you,

The whispering wind, the steady flow of the ocean,

Wrap yourself in words, with love surrounding you,

Let their beauty protect and uplift you.

For words, born of thoughts, are never cold,

But burn with an eternal flame, pure and bold.

Poetry: A Whisper

by Liam

Into the distance, I whisper, ”Tell me about the patience of thy art.”

To those, who’s gaze beyond my eyes to heaven’s shore,

And whisper soft, “Let silence play its part;

Forbearance leads you to your deepest core.”

The path of Love, is a journey of the soul,

A song that mind alone can’t ever sing.

It whispers truths the heart has always known,

Beyond the grasp of thought’s own imagining.

So let your spirit rest in quiet grace,

And trust the timing of the stars above.

For patience, like an artist, finds its place,

And paints with care your masterpiece of Love.

In stillness, allow the wonder to unfold,

For patience turns your leaden dreams to gold.

Poem: Pearl

by Liam

The dignity of this sorrow lies between

Your sadness and my distress.

We had those struggles,

Interludes of passion too,

Before you went your way,

Hair wavering, eyes blistered with tears.

Anger tore up the flower garden in my heart,

Leaving sorrow, or was it sadness,

Clinging letter by letter to those few resilient weeds.

We tried again and again, but our holy ground was wasted.

Sorrow’s resignation is no place to plant love,

Sadness no place to accept happiness.

Captured in distress,

Caught in the quietude,

My reflection shattered.

My soul, which mattered,

Reached out into the still pool,

Where I found this

Pearl.

Poem: Simplicity

by Liam

Suffice to say, the truth is clear,

Simplicity lies in what’s held near.

The more exact, the less excess,

In simplicity, we find life’s success.

The size of what we choose,

Defines how we embrace or lose.

Yet in its humble, silent grace,

Simplicity reveals its true place.

For in quietude, stripped of all its buzz,

Magnificence begins to rise to rush.

A balanced art, so finely spun,

Simplicity and grace spin into one.

In simplicity, the heart is free,

Let’s  dance into grace and harmony.

Strength in Focus

by Liam

This morning’s rise, my calm begins,

A silent flame ignites within.

No tempest wild, nor shadow’s glare,

Can shake the power anchored there.

My stride is firm, each thought defined,

With patience sharp and purpose aligned.

I face the climb, through storm and steep,

For mountains yield to those who keep.

The blaze of effort never fades,

It cuts through your doubt, through dusk and haze.

By hand and heart, my path I pave,

Each step a mark, each leap brave.

No shiny prize nor fleeting grace,

Can match my strength I’ve come to embrace.

For forged in sweat my vision wide,

Rise I, unbroken, fortified.

When the night seems long and cold,

Walk with courage, sure and bold.

Not seeking ease or fleeting fame,

My lightening lites these skies with flames.

Interview with MYSELF

Me: If I can’t change my past, and my future is dependent upon how I live in the moment, what are the best recommendations for myself ?

Myself : That’s a profound question. One key recommendation would be to practice mindfulness. Being fully present in each moment helps you make conscious decisions that align with your values and goals.

Me: How can I start practicing mindfulness effectively?

Myself: Start with small steps. Set aside a few minutes each day to focus on your breathing. Pay attention to your thoughts and feelings without judgment. Over time, you can extend this practice into everyday activities, like eating or walking, by being fully aware of the experience.

Me: What else can I do to live more intentionally in the moment?

Myself: Reflect on your priorities and set clear, realistic goals. Make decisions that reflect your true self and not just react to external pressures. Also, practice gratitude. Regularly acknowledging what you’re thankful for can shift your focus to the positive aspects of your life.

Me: That makes sense. How do I handle the inevitable distractions that pull me away from being present?

Myself: Distractions are normal. When you notice them, gently bring your attention back to the present. Over time, you’ll get better at catching these moments. It can also help to create a conducive environment, limit multitasking, and take breaks to reset your focus.

Me: These are helpful suggestions. I think I’ll start with mindfulness and gratitude. Thank you!

Myself: You’re welcome! Remember, it’s a journey. Be kind to yourself as you practice, and know that each moment is an opportunity to live intentionally.

My dialogue offers practical steps to living in the moment and how this approach can positively shape the future. Liam

Quality ( 4 minutes)

What daily habit do you do that improves your quality of life?

Improving the quality of my life often comes down to consistently practicing positive habits that foster well-being, productivity, and personal growth. Here are some daily habits that I can incorporate to make a significant difference:

To start my day right, I create a morning routine. I wake up early to give myself some quiet time before the day starts, helping me set a positive tone. I practice gratitude by spending a few minutes thinking about or writing down things I am grateful for. Stretching or exercising, even if it’s just a short routine, helps boost my energy levels.

Staying hydrated is also important. I drink a glass of water first thing in the morning and continue to stay hydrated throughout the day. To fuel my body, I focus on a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats, while avoiding processed foods and excessive sugar. Regular exercise is another key habit, so I aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate physical activity each day, whether it’s walking, swimming or any other form of exercise I enjoy.

Prioritizing sleep is essential for my well-being. I aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night and establish a bedtime routine to stick to a consistent sleep schedule. Practicing mindfulness or meditation for 30 minutes a day helps me reduce stress and improve my overall mental health by focusing on my breath and being present in the moment.

I start the day by listing my top three priorities. I also set boundaries for screen time, especially on social media, and aim to disconnect at least an hour before bedtime.

Reading regularly is another habit I value. I spend at least 15-30 minutes a day reading or listening to educational content, self-improvement books, or something that simply interests me. Staying connected with others is important for my social well-being, so I make time for family and friends. Even a brief phone call or text message to check in on someone can make a big difference.

I practice self-reflection by spending a few minutes each evening reflecting on my day, considering what went well, what didn’t, and what I can do differently tomorrow. Engaging in hobbies or creative activities that I love, such as sailing, golf, cooking, or any other creative pursuit, brings joy and satisfaction into my life.

Taking breaks is important, so I avoid working for long hours without breaks. Short breaks help me maintain focus and reduce fatigue. To maintain my physical health, I limit alcohol consumption and avoid smoking completely. Practicing good hygiene through regular self-care routines, such as showering, brushing my teeth, and grooming, contributes to my overall well-being.

Being kind to myself is a habit I prioritize. I practice self-compassion and remind myself that it’s okay to make mistakes and that I don’t have to be perfect. To end my day on a positive note, I establish a calming night routine, such as reading, journaling, or listening to soothing music, to signal to my body that it’s time to wind down.

I set both short-term and long-term goals and regularly review them to track my progress. Learning something new each day keeps me growing, whether it’s a new skill, a language, ( learning Afrikaans) or simply reading up on a new topic ( The Lie of 1652).

Finally, I focus on staying positive and practicing optimism, as this significantly impacts how I handle challenges and setbacks.

By integrating these habits into my daily routine, I can enhance the quality of my life, leading to improved health, happiness, and personal fulfillment. It’s essential for me to start small and gradually add more habits as I become comfortable with the changes.

Nama stay. 😍 Liam

Poetry: A Razor Moon

by Liam

This evenings moon is sharp as a razor,

Its silver blade high in the night-bound sky,

Slicing through the dying twilight’s soft creator,

Cleaving day, as it bids its last goodbye.

Oh, how heaven shivers at this touch,

So cold ethereal, yet fierce and bright,

With edges keen that knew the stars too much,

Unveiling worlds observe the crime of night.

A single drop of angelic blood did spill,

A gentle stain to mourn the sun’s slow death.

Spreading pink among the clouds, serene and still,

A crimson tear upon the evening’s breath.

The night drapes on, a shadowed velvet cloak,

While poised the moon’s razor dangles,

Me to provoke.

Poem: Excitement

by Liam

I’ve felt excitement.

Yes, that smirk, that chuckle of glee,

Bubbling up inside the true, the authentic me.

It’s not that often,

Yet somehow, when you smile, I laugh.

I’m free; you liberate the joy, the intensity.

Sparks, flashes of humor—

I reflect a glance of your iniquity.

Happy,

It’s what we have done,

It’s what we have begun:

Unpremeditated authenticity,

Touching, manipulating, implicating, weaving.

It’s me, alive in your autonomy.

True.

Oh yes, please, I’m sparkling too.

I’m immersed in this momentary, effervescent now.

Excitement overcomes the stated,

The casual question of just how it occurred:

The magic, the love, the true joy of…

Who we are,

Who we strive to become,

Who we grow to know.

This potential, ours is the ground to grow.

Excitement, truly exciting.

Let’s just do it.

Poetry: Life

by Liam

Oh! Life, short as a half-taken breath,

I heave my chest, a fleeting sigh,

Like the gust that bends the barley’s head,

Then quietly, leaves the fields shy.

Plant but love in the fertile earth,

For soil knows the wisdom of words,

Each a promise, each a vow, is a tender birth—

Roots grow deep where silence confers.

A spade cuts, into the loamy dark,

Rich soil which cradles the words we sow;

In the garden of gratitude leave your mark,

With each tender letter, let love grow.

For cold handed time, though swift, can’t erase.

Nor linger like dust on a summer’s face

The blossoms of  love well-cared or well-said;

Soft and eternal, though the day has fled.
