Poetry: Of no matter

My eloquence is of no matter.

Words, letters, poetry will come green in spring,

Will sing, then fall again in autumns chatter.

What’s in you matters, not words which ring.

Scratchings which quaver wet across a page.

It’s in thee, which words profound have found,

Awaken the experience of the sage.

Cloak this gratitude fain about thee in God.

For it will feed thy precious life,

In these humble days of strife.
