Selfishness

What personality trait in people raises a red flag with you?

Selfishness is a behavior characterized by a focus on one’s own interests, needs, and desires at the expense of others. It involves a lack of consideration for the feelings, well-being, or rights of others. Selfish individuals often prioritize their own comfort, gain, or happiness without regard for the impact it may have on those around them. While self-care and pursuing personal goals are essential aspects of life, selfishness becomes problematic when it leads to a disregard for the needs and feelings of others, potentially causing harm or strain in relationships and social interactions. Balancing self-interest with empathy and consideration for others is an important aspect of healthy interpersonal relationships and societal harmony. Liam

Work life balance:

Describe your ideal week.

Balancing various aspects of life, including work, creativity, exercise, nutrition, meditation, social relationships, and family, is crucial for overall well-being.

Here’s how you could approach each of these aspects within the context of work-life balance:

1. Work:

– Set clear boundaries: Establish specific working hours and stick to them. Avoid overworking, and make sure to disconnect from work-related tasks outside of those hours.

– Prioritize tasks: Focus on high-priority tasks during your most productive hours, which can vary from person to person.

2. Creativity:

– Schedule creative time: Allocate time in your week for creative endeavors, whether it’s writing, painting, music or any other form of self-expression.

– Embrace breaks: Creativity often thrives when you take short breaks to clear your mind and let new ideas flow.

3. Exercise:

– Consistency is key: Incorporate regular exercise into your weekly routine. Even short daily workouts can have a positive impact on your health and energy levels.

– Mix it up: Choose activities you enjoy to make exercise more sustainable and enjoyable.

4. Happy Nutrition:

– Plan meals: Prepare balanced meals in advance to ensure you have healthy options readily available during the workweek.

– Mindful eating: Pay attention to what and how you eat, avoiding mindless snacking or overindulging due to stress.

5. Meditation:

– Daily practice:

Dedicate a few minutes each day to mindfulness meditation to reduce stress and increase mental clarity.

– Integration: Integrate mindfulness into your daily activities, such as during breaks at work or while commuting.

6. Social Relationships:

– Quality over quantity: Nurture meaningful relationships by spending quality time with loved ones and friends.

– Plan social activities: Schedule regular gatherings or outings to maintain connections.

7. Family:

– Family time: Prioritize dedicated time with your family, whether it’s during meals, outings, or specific family activities.

– Communication: Keep open lines of communication to understand & support each family member’s needs and expectations.

This simple system touches the main aspects of all of our lives. It’s certainly helped to get my life happily back on track. Liam

All I Want

Poetry: All I Want

by Liam

All I want is silence, to touch me

It’s beauty hidden within the shine of love

All I want is love, to fold my soul

To turn me fully to myself

All I want is to run, towards the moment smiling

For that perfume rise’s from the valley floor

It’s here we dance

It’s how we pray

It’s why we glance

To the stars and stay

In cosmic motion

The Pilgrimage

Poetry: The Pilgrimage

by Liam

Let’s walk as pilgrims along the road of love,

Wearing the cloak of gratitude.

The past, left like dust behind us, dissipates.

The blistered feet, a memory,

Where I’ve been and done, each day,

This pain bringing me closer to God,

Strengthens the substance of my soul,

Filling every nook and cranny of my life,

Bringing me back to where we all began,

Over there, on the other side of the beginning.

Towards which I’m again now marching,

A pilgrimage to this place called me.

Holding a grudge.

Are you holding a grudge? About?

Having a grudge can consume your thoughts and energy, making it challenging to move forward or find peace until you’ve resolved the issue or forgiven the person involved. Often enough it’s ourselves that we hold a grudge against. Liam

Sonnet: The Chalice

Sonnet: The Chalice

by Liam

Life’s chalice, is never empty, in this I find grace,

What fills it? quench’s my soul’s deep thirst,

This is finer stuff, known to my heart’s embrace,

A substance pure to the heart, it is God’s verse.

These desires too, known by the discerning few,

Flow within, towards the heart, it’s guide,

Where chalice and love, both vessels true,

Nourish this our journey, side by side.

Our very existence, is of substance divine,

The essence of love is this sacred deal,

For in discomfort, our bodies may pine,

Yet in spirit, pure joy we will feel.

So let the cup brim with life’s sweet refrain,

In the chalice of love, we find joy again.
